Tea Time

My second buddy card for September is La La Land Crafts "Tea Time" Stamp.  It's just perfect for my buddy who lives in Great Britain.  I was pleased when I found it.

I colored her with copics, embellished her with stickles, a flower on her hair and gems for her earrings.

Taking a Swim

I belong to a facebook group called Cardmaking Tips (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Cardmakingtips/files/) and we get the chance to be buddies with someone in the world to share and exchange cards.  I am delighted to have found this!

I have made this card for one of my buddies and I sure hope she likes it!

This is a Bildarna (sp?) stamp and I colored her with copics.  I embellished the waves in the poollwith stickles and added stickles to her waist band and polk dots on her dress.  I'm a big fan of using embellishments on my coloring and you will always see some sort of embellishment, whether it be a gem, glitter, stickles, ribbon, or clear gel.  

I distressed all the edges with Tim Holtz's distress ink Tumbled Glass.

I will post my next card for my next buddy, I have 3, later.

Gabriel Uther Yates

 

 

I am pleased to announce my new line of wreaths, called Gabe's Line.  This post would be best written by my daughter, but that is not a possibility at this time, so I will best describe it myself.

 

Gabe is my little grandson who died from an unknown disease at the tender age of 6 months of age.  He spent all but 1 month of his life in Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon.  He came from rich Irish blood and was a true fighter.

 

 

I never met Gabe, but from the stories my daughter told me and the feelings I felt in my soul after Gabe has passed away I know he was a strong fighter, but his little body just couldn't fight what was plaguing him.  He had brain surgeries for tubes to be inserted, he had both kidneys removed and he was loved and precious. 

 

 

My daughter fought tirelessly to take care of him and also her toddler, Sophie.  With little support, except phone support from me, she had only the nurses to rely on and her own strength.  In this journey I hope she realizes that she found strength in her that she never ever knew she had.  She was a immovable force to be not be crossed.  She knew every little detail of every machine, tube and injection going into that sweet little boy.  She was his care taker more than those nurses. 

 

 

When they took him home to pass away she never left his side, loving him, nurturing him and whispering sweet softness only they know about.  Little Gabe stole a huge piece of her heart that I hope by now has healed at some point.  It's been about 4 years now and I pray that she has found some sort of peace in the hard, long journey she had to endure. 

 

I wish she had allowed me to walk with her on that journey, but she sent me away several months after Gabe's death and I haven't heard of her since.  My life is a void without her in it.  How can a mother be whole without all her children around her.  However, I walk each day with hope in my heart she will one day come back to me as my daughter.

 

Like I said I never met him, but oh how I love that little guy.  How dear he is to me.  I see him in every rainbow as he calls down from heaven and says "Hi Grandma". 

This new line:  Gabe's Line is for all the children suffering at Doernbecher's Children's Hospital, located in Portland Oregon where Gabe lived his little life.  No bill was ever given to my daughter.  All expenses paid.

This line will be going into hospital gift shops in Columbus, OH shortly and all proceeds going to Doernbecher's.  Please help me help those priceless little angels sent from heaven just to receive a body.  Help me help those families that grieve those loses, a memorial wreath perhaps, with the child's picture in it.  I appreciate your love, your willingness to help families in need or love and support.  Please help me introduce....Gabe's Line.

Exciting things Happening!!!

 

I've spent so much attention to my other blog www.bethannwashere.blogspot.com that I've neglected to update you on this blog.

 

I am now selling my wreaths at a retail store here in Powell, OH called Trading Places.  It's a consignment shop and they deal mainly in furniture, but when they saw my wreaths, they just had to have them.  I haven't sold anything from them yet and I'm a bit discouraged, but I think it will take a bit. 

 

I have sold some wreaths from a local facebook page I belong to and that has made me feel validated that my wreaths are good.  I get many compliments on them. I'll show you some in my next post.

 

I've been busting the streets and making cold calls to every gift shop and consignment shop I can think of.  My Crafty Girls Club (that blog is www.craftygirlsclub.blogspot.com, but is only set for private.  Sorry.  Maybe I'll make it go public.),  is doing great and it's been so successful that I'm opening up evening classes and classes for children and teenagers.

 

I have some potential clients in the works and once I get my strength back I'll be hitting the streets again pushing my wreaths.  I love making them.  I've started a baby series called Gabe's Line and they are just to precious for words. 

 

I have a funeral home interested in opening up a new line of products for their customers in the wreaths I make as a keepsake, instead of real flowers that die away.  I also have my Gabe's line going into Hospital Gifts Shops shortly, with proceeds going directly to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

 

I also have a store here in town called Legacy Arts that wants me to come and teach card making classes for them.  I have to make a proposal for them to do that.

Crafty Girls Club for February

 

 



The Crafty Girls have spoken and we are doing this adorable Valentine's Day Card.  What a fun way to show your honey you love them with hearts, glitter, hearts and lockets all on the every most popular pennant rope. 

 

 

If you are interested in joining this class it meets on February 12th at 11:00 at my house.  Please contact me for directions.  Everyone is asked to bring their own paper trimmer, scissors and adhesive.  This class will cost $5.00.
