Welcome to Fireflys Crafts new Blog!
Fireflys Crafts started before the holidays when I saw a Deco Mesh Wreath and told myself "I can do that". So, I set out to get some mesh and went at it. It came really naturally to me and I was surprised at how well I did and the response I got about the wreaths I made. I made 3 that were given away as gifts for Christmas presents and everyone LOVED them! It made me feel good and prompted me to make more and see if I could sell them.
So, I started on Etsy, didn't fair very well. Next I hit Ebay, and again no hits. Then I heard of a facebook page called Local To Powell, which is a facebook page for people just in Powell, OH who have things to sell and people on there who want to buy things. So, I put my wreaths on there and bingo! I hit the market and sold some wreaths.
Now, I am branching out into consignment shops and I have one shop currently who is seriously thinking about allowing my wreaths in her store. I will be so excited to have made that big next step!
Now, Fireflys Crafts is an official business with with Government and I've put in the umbrella of the Fireflys Crafts my already established Crafty Girls Club.
The Crafty Girls club meets once a month on the 2nd Thursday. We do mainly card making, but we've been known to do general crafts and 1 mini album. The cost is just what the materials cost for your kit. No children are allowed and everyone is welcome!
Something new that I've started is Individual classes for General Crafts, Card Making and Scrapbooking. I make all my own greeting cards and get a ton of compliments from those and with teaching card making with the Crafty Girls Club, I feel confident that I am a good teacher in teaching individuals on there own time. This gives you the personal time you may need from me and I LOVE doing it! The cost is $10.00 an hour, plus the cost of any materials I may purchase for you. As in the Crafty Girls Club, no children please.
Crafting time is your time, that's why I don't allow children in the craft room. It's your time to get away, relax, mingle amongst friends and learn something new.
My motto in everything crafty is "Leaving a Legacy Behind". I truly believe in this. When you give someone a handmade card they usually don't throw it away because it was made from you. It gave the message of I was thinking of you, I love you, and many other statements. It means you care enough about them to take the time to make something from scratch, therein you are leaving a legacy of you. People will never forget that card, that craft or scrapbook you made for them.
